February 11, 2025 – Emro Inc. (KOSDAQ: 058970), Korea’s leading AI-based supply chain management software company, has released its “2025 Procurement Trend Report.”
The report was based on a survey conducted through Emro’s online procurement community platform BUYBLE, targeting 300 corporate procurement professionals in Korea during January 2025. It analyzes procurement trends from the past year and provides actionable insights and guidance for corporate procurement strategies.
Respondents highlighted “cost reduction pressure (23.1%)” as the most significant change in procurement practices over the past year. Looking ahead, “rising raw material and logistics costs (14%)” were identified as the factors expected to most influence the 2025 procurement market. To address these challenges, procurement professionals plan to continue prioritizing cost reduction (24.8%) as their top strategy.
Emro identified five key procurement trends for 2025:
- Trump 2.0 – The re-election of U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to bring shifts in trade policies and reshoring initiatives, requiring companies to optimize global supply chains.
- China Shock 2.0 – China’s strengthened government support and technological advances are enhancing both price and quality competitiveness, prompting domestic companies to evaluate sourcing strategies.
- Polycrisis – A complex set of global challenges—including economic volatility, pandemics, natural disasters, and geopolitical tensions—demands data-driven risk management and resilient supply chain practices.
- ESG Operationalization – Compliance with ESG-related regulations is increasingly critical across supply chains, requiring companies to monitor both their own operations and those of suppliers to ensure transparency.
- AI beyond DX (Digital Transformation) – Accelerated adoption of AI technologies, including generative AI, AI agents, and large language models (LLMs), is reshaping procurement processes, enabling predictive analysis, automated workflows, and strategic decision-making.
The report emphasizes the importance of leveraging digital technologies and AI to enhance procurement decision-making, improve collaboration across supply chains, and mitigate risks associated with global uncertainty.
“Prepared with guidance from Professor Choi Jung-wook of Kookmin University, the 2025 Procurement Trend Report is designed to help procurement professionals gain timely insights into global political and economic developments,” said an Emro spokesperson. “We hope it supports companies in refining their strategies, making informed decisions, and exploring new opportunities in a rapidly evolving market.”
